Our mission is to make people, who are interested in poetry, more aware of those poetry communities and events which are available. We pride ourselves on providing current, relevant, and tasteful information to poets and readers alike who are interested in participating in some of the programs and events. We realize that poetry tends to be inaccessible to those who are not going to school for it, so we strive to provide good information about educational programs, workshops, readings, and publications in which students and the general public can get more involved in.
There are many things, besides the name, that make The BPP a very unique poetry newsletter. The biggest difference is that every month, The BPP features a cover page editorial, parody, or essay by a published writer or a distinguished member of the poetry scene. It enables readers to get a better understanding of the poetry world from the perspective of someone who is either published or currently working in academia. Poets like Beckian Goldberg, Sean Nevin, and Cynthia Hogue have dived into several issues being faced by writers within the poetry scene; such as graphic imagery, spoken word, and poetry on film.
